Vice
President Leni Robredo’s twitter account on Sunday went offline for 36 hours
after several netizens reported it as “fake account”.
Internal
twitter investigation says a twitter customer support who is not familiar with
the vice president, shut down her account after receiving more than a hundred
reports that the account was fake.
Robredo’s
account started to become inaccessible at around 4AM on Sunday.
At
first, her supporters thought it was just a glitch, but people started to panic
when none of them could no longer access the account.
Twitter’s
internal report says that the support department started receiving complaints
around 2PM on the same day, but it took more than a day to verify the account
according to senior support who refused to give his name.
“We received more than 200 reports
that the account was fake, so without further ado, our remote support office in
Bangalore suspended the account. We have an Indian support so he definitely had
no idea who VP Robredo is”, the senior employee in Quezon City said.
The
employee added that receiving less than 50 reports for an account is still
tolerable, but in Robredo’s case, it received more than 200 fake reports.
The
account was restored on Monday noon.
The
camp of VP Robredo was aware but the company said her people had no idea how to
contact twitter support in order to report the issue. /Leomar Bondoc/
