The
problem of the police and military in Marawi City is not limited to Maute only
following reports that militant groups linked to Kalipunan ng Damayang
Mahihirap (KADAMAY), are looting and ransacking houses and commercial establishments
abandoned by residents.
Police
on Tuesday have arrested 12 people who were caught in the act breaking glasses
of a commercial establishment. Three of the arrested suspects bears KADAMAY
identification cards.
The
police also said that they are receiving reports that militant groups from
neighboring province came to Marawi to carry the looting operation.
KADAMAY
is a group of militant people who illegally occupied the government housing
units in Pandi, Bulacan.
Aside
from KADAMAY, the authorities are also looking into other groups, especially
the KARAPATAN whose members staged protest earlier demanding aid and relief
goods in front of Marawi City hall on Tuesday.
The
police said 16 of its members broke into a big sari-sari store and took sacks
of rice and grocery items. /Leni Zapanta/
